Fruitful Futures
Terms of Service
1. Who can use Fruitful Futures
Fruitful Futures is operated by Fruitful LLC. A student must be in grade 6 or above, and a parent or guardian must complete the consent and privacy agreement before the first session. By signing it, the parent or guardian agrees to these terms on the student’s behalf and on their own.
2. What the service is, and what it is not
A student gets a regular half-hour conversation with an AI counselor about school, life, and what they are working towards. The counselor is software. It has a name and a personality, it speaks in real time, and it is not a person.
It is not therapy. It is not psychotherapy, diagnosis, treatment or a mental-health service, and it is not a substitute for any of them. No clinician reviews these sessions as a matter of course. In an emergency, call your local emergency number — Fruitful Futures is not an emergency service.
Fruitful Futures is not affiliated with any college, university or admissions office, and nothing it says is a prediction or a guarantee of any admissions outcome.
3. Sessions are recorded in writing
Sessions happen on Google Meet and a meeting assistant joins to produce captions, so that the counselor remembers the student between sessions. We store the written transcript and not audio or video. What we do with it, and for how long, is in the Privacy Policy.
4. Honest use
Fruitful Futures is there to help a student think and plan. Using it to produce work a student then passes off as their own unaided writing is not what it is for, and schools and colleges set their own rules about that which a student is responsible for following.
5. Ending it
A parent or guardian can withdraw consent at any time and the sessions end. A student can end any session whenever they want and can skip any question. We may suspend an account for misuse or where we believe continuing would be unsafe.
6. Text Message Program
A student and their counselor can exchange text messages. This is a two-way conversational program: the counselor may send a student reminders about their own sessions, check-ins, follow-ups on something they asked for, and answers to messages the student sends. It is a convenience on top of the app, never a replacement for it — anything important is in the app whether or not a text arrives.
- Consent, in two steps. The student and their parent or guardian first complete the consent and privacy agreement in the app. That agreement describes this program but does not enrol anyone in it. The parent or guardian then switches texting on separately, gives the student’s mobile number, and confirms it with a one-time code sent to that number. Nothing is sent to a number that has not been confirmed that way.
- It is optional and it is not a condition of anything. A family can use Fruitful Futures in full without ever turning texting on, and turning it off later changes nothing else about the counseling.
- Age. Only available to students who are at least 13 years old, which is a higher floor than Section 1 sets for Fruitful Futures itself. A grade does not establish an age, so the parent or guardian confirms the student is 13 or older when they turn texting on, and a student whose age has not been confirmed is not texted.
- Message frequency. Frequency varies, because the program is conversational and largely driven by what the student sends. Messages the counselor starts are limited to a small number per week, and it does not start a conversation between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM in the student’s local time.
- Rates. Message and data rates may apply.
- Opt out. The student can reply STOP to any message to end the program, or HELP for help. The parent or guardian switches it off in the app, where they switched it on — the conversation is on the student’s phone, so a parent on a different phone has no message to reply to. Either route ends it. Opting out of texts does not affect the counseling, which continues in the app.
- Carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Privacy within the family. A parent does not receive copies of the student’s text conversation with their counselor, in the same way they do not receive a transcript of a session.
We do not share your mobile number or SMS opt-in and consent data with third parties for marketing. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle this information, and the text message page for what the opt-in screens say.
7. Changes
If we change these terms materially we will ask a family to review and agree again before their next session. The consent agreement carries a version so that nobody is held to words they never read.
